7 Grilled Desserts Perfect for Fall Weather

Summer is officially over, but if you’re like us you just can't bring yourself to cover up the grill. Awesome! Why should you cover it up for the cooler seasons? After all, what’s football season without a tailgate party? What’s a breezy, fall-filled weekend without the fantastic smell of rich BBQ goodness? And what better way to avoid stuffy Thanksgiving dinner convos than with a cookout?


This fall, take the pledge to keep that grill hot. To help inspire you, we’ve put together some of our favorite grilled desserts—absolutely perfect for fall weather. We’ve covered grilled desserts for summer, now it’s time to celebrate the new season. Throw on your Kick Ash gloves, fire up the grill and, as always, happy grilling!

Chocolate Marshmallow Bananas


Nothing says fall quite like the taste of a s’more. This recipe adds a twist to the classic - cozy up with this Chocolate Marshmallow Banana and a cup of cider. 


Ingredients: 

  • 1 banana

  • Handful mini marshmallows

  • Handful chocolate chips

  • Aluminum foil

Directions:

  1. Place a peeled banana on a 12 x 12 piece of aluminum foil. 

  2. Slice the banana approximately 3/4 through, lengthwise.

  3. Gently spread banana halves and fill with chocolate chips and marshmallows.

  4. Wrap tightly, then grill on medium high heat for around 5 minutes. 

  5. Serve warm. 

Grilled Dessert Cones


This recipe works best as a campfire treat, but you can cook them grill top, too! A perfect opportunity for the littles to make their own creations. 


Ingredients:

  • Ice cream cones

  • Chocolate chips

  • Salted peanuts

  • Mini marshmallows

  • White baking chips or butterscotch chips

  • Aluminum foil

Directions:

  1. Light campfire or preheat grill to medium heat. 

  2. Fill your ice cream cones (or let the kids do it!) with filler ingredients.

  3. Wrap each cone tightly with foil, grill or place over heat for seven to ten minutes. 

  4. Unwrap carefully and enjoy!

Grilled Strawberry Shortcake


Who says strawberries are just for summer? This is one of our favorite fall grilled recipes - serve with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream! 


Ingredients:

  • 1 pre-made or store-bought angel food or pound cake

  • 1 1/2 cups whipping cream

  • Zest of 1 lemon

  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar

  • 1 pound hulled strawberries

  • 2 tablespoons honey

Directions:

  1. Whip whipping cream at a medium speed for 2 to 3 minutes. Add lemon zest and powdered sugar, then whip until soft peaks form. Refrigerate.

  2. Preheat the grill to medium heat. Meanwhile, cut cake into 6 wedges. Thread four strawberries onto each of 6 skewers. Drizzle skewers with honey on all sides. 

  3. Transfer skewers and cake wedges to the grill. Let sit until grill marks appear on each side. 

  4. Serve each slice of cake with a skewer of strawberries and topped with whipped cream. 


Grilled Nectarine Nutella Sundae


Credit to sheKnows for this brilliant recipe. It’s going to be a hit with dessert fans of all ages, and it’s ridiculously easy to put together. 


Ingredients:

  • 2 nectarines, halved and pitted 

  • 2 teaspoons honey

  • 4 tablespoons Nutella or other hazelnut spread

  • 4 scoops vanilla ice cream

  • Whipped cream and maraschino cherries for garnish

Directions:

  1. Preheat the grill to medium heat. Meanwhile, brush each nectarine. Half with about 1-2 teaspoons honey. 

  2. Place nectarine halves flat-side-down on the grill and allow to cook for about 5 minutes. Flip and cook for another minute. 

  3. Transfer to plates, flat-side up. Cool for several minutes then fill the cavity with one tablespoon of hazelnut spread. 

  4. Serve warm with ice cream and garnished with whipped cream and maraschino cherries, if desired.

Grilled Caramel Apple Crisp


This dessert perfectly captures the feel of fall. You’ll need to do a little kitchen prep-work, but the results are amazing. 


Ingredients:  

  • 8 cups peeled, sliced apples

  • 1/2 cup sugar

  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon

  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

  • 1/4 cup caramel sauce

  • 6 tablespoons butter

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

  • 1 cup flour

  • 1 cup oatmeal

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

Directions:

  1. In a large bowl, toss the apples, sugar, cinnamon, and cornstarch. Place in a cast iron skillet and drizzle with caramel sauce. 

  2. Preheat your grill to 350 degrees. Meanwhile, in a separate bowl, combine brown sugar, flour, oatmeal, and baking powder. Using a knife, cut in the butter. Sprinkle over the apple mixture and cover the skillet with foil. 

  3. Transfer skillet to grill and cook for approximately 15 minutes or until the apples are soft and the topping is golden. 

  4. Serve warm.

Grilled Donuts


You haven’t tasted a doughnut until you’ve tasted a grilled doughnut. Fire up the grill and get creative with this unexpected doughnut improvement.


Ingredients:

  • 6 glazed doughnuts

  • 6 tablespoons butter

  • 6 scoops ice cream

  • Fresh fruit for topping

  • Fudge sauce, whipped cream, etc

Directions:

  1. Preheat a grill to medium heat. Meanwhile, slice doughnuts in half lengthwise. Spread cut side with butter.

  2. Grill doughnuts flat side first for about a minute on each side, using caution to prevent burning them.

  3. Once grilled, top with ice cream and toppings of your choice, serve warm. 

Grilled Pumpkin Seeds


After the last jack o lantern is carved, season those seeds and grill them up. The kids will love this tasty snack, and it’s a healthy treat, too!


Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Put washed, de-pulped and dried seeds into a large bowl. 

  2. Coat lightly with olive oil, and sprinkle Sweet Mama BBQ Rub to taste. 

  3. Spread in a single layer on a baking sheet.

  4. Place the baking sheet on a 325 degree grill and roast for 30 minutes. 

  5. Turn seeds and roast for another 15 to 30 minutes, until golden brown.
