I just received a 2XL BGE for my birthday and purchased the ash basket combo right away. I’ve had a medium BGE for years. Clean up on that one isn’t difficult. But it’s a bit tedious to disassemble for ash removal. With the 2XL, bigger is better. But bigger comes with heavier ceramic parts for the fire ring. The Kick Ash basket and bowl are a great improvement for the larger kamado grills (though smaller grills benefit too). The setup makes cleaning easier, reduces the frequency of fire ring removal ash recovery, greatly improves airflow during cooks, and makes sifting ash from residual charcoal a breeze. It does everything they say it does. I’ll say it’s a must-have for the larger kamados. For me, it’s a back saver too!
