The Smarter Scrubber Project took 4 years to complete and in the process to make the product, JJ George had 3 main goals:
1. Safety - Eliminate dangerous wire bristles that can fall off, be eaten, and cause medical emergencies.
2. Quality - Make a very high quality, durable, and useful grill scrubber that would last for years. The Smarter Scrubber is dishwasher safe.
3. Made affordably in USA - This was probably the biggest challenge... the Smarter Scrubber is made right here in the USA!
JJ George teamed up with Destin from Smarter Everyday on YouTube who is an incredible engineer with a passion for American manufacturing.
In order to make the Smarter Scrubber safe, the scrubbing surface is made using food safe stainless steel chainmail backed by food grade silicone.
Many different varieties of chain mail were tested and welded stainless steel chain mail was the winner because it is incredibly strong and will not break even when the intention was to do so.
Not only is the Smarter Scrubber safe and durable, but it functions great and is as good of a grill cleaner as you will find! Also, the head of the Scrubber can be removed, and makes a great cast iron pot cleaner.
